How many heartaches you could have avoided if you’d only known how much you were truly worth. The value you have is so unspeakably precious, yet, for some reason you refuse to accept it, and now you cannot even remember what it feels like to be truly loved.

Maybe you don’t like your voice or your personality. Maybe other people have pointed out your flaws until you hear nothing but criticism in your head all day long. Maybe someone broke your heart with unkind words or left you alone when you needed them there. Maybe you were abused or neglected - or simply ignored. Maybe your life didn’t turn out like you planned…
Yet.
The good news is - it’s a new day. A whole new opportunity awaits for you right now. It all starts with a simple decision, and it all comes down to this:
If you take away your appearance and you take away your possessions, who do you have left?
If you don’t know the answer to that question, it’s time to find out.
The value of you is not in anything you can buy and its not in any way you look, it is a miraculous seed that you carry and it is one of a kind. Inside that seed is every special quality you posess and above all - your possibilities. What you could become. What you could do with your life - if you only knew.
Long before the foundations of the earth were laid, your name was already known. You are no accident and you certainly are no less important than any other person around. Life may have handed you some pretty raw deals, but take heart, if you’re still here - the best is yet to come.

Today is the day to stop giving away the best parts of you in exchange for the worst in other people. Today is the day to begin cultivating that precious seed you carry by weeding out all the poisons that are choking it out. Today is the day to focus on what’s right with you instead of focusing on everything that you see as wrong. Today is the day to accept that only you can determine your worth and that everything that has happened to you was not a measure of your value, but, can be used as part of who you will become.
We focus quite a bit at The Butterfly Project on daily affirmations. This is one of our favorites. Write it down. Post it around your house. Say it out loud everyday - particularly when you don't feel like it:
"I am loved and I am worthy to be loved - just as I am."
